Local clipping on your Mac, including Intel
M-series or Intel. Both supported.
Mac is the one platform where local AI clipping already has good options — so the honest pitch here is narrower than on Windows or Linux. Ascynd runs natively on macOS, on Apple Silicon and Intel alike, and it is the same licence and the same app if you also use a PC or a Linux box.
In short
Ascynd is a native macOS AI video clipper that processes video entirely on your Mac, supporting both Apple Silicon and Intel machines. There is no upload, no credit system and no monthly cap, and one licence also covers Windows and Linux.

Mac already has good local options — with a catch
This page would be dishonest if it opened by claiming Mac users have nowhere to turn. They do: Reelify is a well-built local clipper for macOS, it is fast, and its $59 lifetime licence is cheaper than any subscription including ours. If you own an Apple Silicon Mac and that is the only machine you will ever clip on, it is a genuinely good choice.
Two things narrow that. The first is Intel: Reelify requires an M-series chip and states plainly that Intel Macs are not supported, so a 2019 MacBook Pro is simply out. The second is everything that is not a Mac — if you also use a Windows desktop, run Linux, or work with colleagues who do, a Mac-only tool covers a fraction of the work.
Ascynd's case on macOS is not that it is the only local option. It is that it runs on the Intel Macs the others exclude, and that it is the same application with the same licence on the other two operating systems.
What local processing gets you on a Mac
Modern Macs have strong media hardware — dedicated video encode and decode blocks, fast unified memory, and enough CPU to run transcription comfortably. Cloud clippers cannot use any of it. They upload your file to a rented GPU and charge you by the minute for the privilege, while the silicon you paid for sits idle.
Running locally also removes the upload itself. A multi-gigabyte podcast recording takes real time to push up a domestic connection, every time you process it — including when you re-run it because you wanted a different setting. Ascynd reads the file from where it already sits, so that time never exists.
For anyone editing client work or unreleased material on a Mac, there is a third benefit: the footage does not go anywhere, so there is no third-party processor to account for.
Same app, same features, on every machine you own
Ascynd is one Rust codebase compiled natively for each target, so the macOS build is not a port with a reduced feature list. Clip detection, engagement scoring, captions, reframing, silence removal and export behave identically to the Windows and Linux builds.
That matters most at the moment you change machines. Switching from a MacBook to a PC, adding a Linux workstation, or onboarding a colleague on a different operating system does not mean re-buying software or rebuilding a workflow — the licence and the app follow you.

Frequently asked questions
- What is the best AI video clipper for Mac?
- If you have an Apple Silicon Mac and will only ever clip on it, Reelify is a strong local option and its $59 lifetime licence is cheaper than a subscription. If you have an Intel Mac, or you also use Windows or Linux, Reelify will not run for you and Ascynd will — it supports both Mac architectures and the other two operating systems from one licence. For cloud options, Opus Clip and Klap both work on Mac through the browser but meter usage.
- Does Ascynd run on Intel Macs?
- Yes. Ascynd supports both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. This is worth checking with any local clipper — Reelify, the main alternative, requires an M-series chip and does not support Intel machines at all.
- Does it take advantage of Apple Silicon?
- Yes. Processing runs natively and uses the hardware video encode and decode available on the machine, so an M-series Mac clips noticeably faster than an older Intel one. Because everything is local, a faster Mac makes your clipping faster rather than making your subscription better value.
- Does it work offline on Mac?
- Yes, after the first sign-in. Transcription, clip detection, reframing, captions and export all run locally with no connection. Only licence checks and updates use the network, and no video data is transmitted.
- What happens if I switch from a Mac to a PC?
- Nothing changes. One licence covers Windows, macOS and Linux, and the feature set is identical across all three because it is one codebase compiled for each. Single-platform tools make that switch expensive; this one does not.
