This Privacy Policy explains how Ascynd (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you visit ascynd.io or use our desktop application. We keep things simple: we only collect what we need, and we never sell your data.

Information we collect

When you use Ascynd, we may collect:

• Account information — your name, email address, and a hashed password when you create an account.
• Billing information— if you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is processed by Stripe. We don't store your card details on our servers.
• Usage analytics — anonymised data about how you interact with the site (pages visited, approximate region, device type) via PostHog.
• Technical data — information your browser sends automatically, like IP address, timezone, and user agent, used to secure the service and debug issues.

Your videos are processed locally on your own device. They are not uploaded to our servers.

How we use your data

• To create and manage your Ascynd account.
• To send you transactional emails (email verification, password resets, billing receipts).
• To process subscription payments and manage your plan.
• To understand how the site is used so we can improve the product.
• To protect the service against fraud, abuse, and security threats.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use a small number of cookies to run the site:

• Essential cookies — required to keep you signed in and remember your preferences (including your cookie-consent choice).
• Analytics cookies — used by PostHog to count visits and understand how pages are used. This data is aggregated and not used to identify you.

You can reject non-essential cookies from the cookie banner on the site. Essential cookies cannot be disabled because the site won't work without them.

Service providers we use

We rely on a small number of trusted providers to run Ascynd. Each of them only receives the data they need to do their job:

• Vercel — hosting and performance monitoring.
• Stripe — subscription billing and payments.
• Resend — transactional email delivery.
• PostHog — product analytics.

Data retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we're required to keep it longer (for example, invoices for tax and accounting purposes).

Your rights under GDPR

If you're in the EU or UK, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct data that's wrong or incomplete.
• Ask us to delete your data.
