Clipper earnings calculator

Clipping campaigns advertise a CPM. What reaches your account is smaller — marketplace cuts, agency cuts, per-clip payout caps and platform fees all take a slice first. Enter your niche and output to see the honest version, including what your editing tool costs.

High-volume talking-head source material, plenty of campaigns. Views: Medium.

How much long-form footage you run through an editor each month. This is what per-minute tools bill on — not how many clips come out.

Estimated take-home / month

After marketplace and agency cuts, the 9% platform fee, and a flat-rate editing tool.

What your editing tool costs
Per-minute clipper$29/mo
Flat-rate (Ascynd)$12.99/mo

At this volume a per-minute clipper would take 3% of your net earnings. A flat-rate tool takes 1%, and stops growing as you scale.

How this calculator works

Most clipping calculators multiply views by CPM and stop. That number is not what anyone gets paid, so this one keeps going.

01 · Gross

Clips per month × average views × your niche's advertised CPM range. This is the number campaign pages show you, and the one most calculators stop at.

02 · Cuts, caps and fees

A 35% haircut for marketplace and agency cuts and per-clip payout caps, then a 9% platform fee. That lands most clippers in the $2–$5 per 1,000 band that benchmark data reports.

03 · Your tooling cost

The one expense that scales with the number you are trying to raise. Per-minute clippers bill on source minutes; flat-rate tools do not move.

Advertised rates by niche

CPM is only half the equation. The niches that pay most per view are the hardest to get views in, which is why the difficulty column matters as much as the rate.

NichePer 1KViews

Why your editing tool is in this calculation

Clipping earnings are decided by volume. The gap between $200 a month and $5,000 a month is mostly the clips-per-week column — full-time clippers are not finding secret campaigns, they are posting ten times the volume into the same ones.

Which makes per-minute billing an odd thing to sign up for. Credit systems charge by the minute of source video, so the cost of your editing stack scales with exactly the number your entire strategy is trying to raise — out of a payout already compressed by marketplace cuts, agency cuts and per-clip caps. Going from 10 clips a week to 100 does not just mean ten times the work; it means roughly ten times the tooling bill.

That is the one cost flat-rate clipping removes: processing runs on your own machine, so the 500th clip in a month costs what the first one did. If you want the cloud side of that comparison in detail, the cloud clipper cost calculator prices each tool against your monthly volume.

One more thing worth checking before a campaign: briefs frequently reject clips carrying third-party branding, and rejection can happen after your views have landed. Make sure your editor exports without a watermark on the tier you are actually on.
